1. Contest Overview

Welcome to the Go Texan Day Video Contest. Please read these Official Rules carefully before entering. This free contest is sponsored by the Houston General Go Texan Committee in partnership with the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo (HLSR). By submitting an entry, you agree to abide by these rules and accept that all decisions made by the contest organizers are final.

3. Eligibility & Categories

• Who May Enter: This contest is open to organizations wishing to showcase their Go Texan Day event. One entry per organization, department, or location is allowed.
• People’s Choice Divisions: When submitting your entry, you must select the division that best represents your organization:

• • Schools (Preschool, K-12, and Higher Education)
  • Small Business (Less than 50 employees)
  • Large Business (Over 50 employees)
  • Government and Non-Profit

• Spirit Award Category: In addition to the People’s Choice divisions, a Spirit Award will be given. Both a winner and a runner-up in this category will be selected solely by the Houston General Go Texan Committee from the overall pool of entries, based on creativity, impact, and how well the entry embraces Western heritage.

4. How to Enter

• Video Submission Requirements:

• • Length: Maximum of 60 seconds. Entries longer than 60 seconds will be disqualified.
  • Platform: Upload your video to YouTube and set the visibility to “Public.”
  • Submission: Include the valid YouTube video link in the online entry form.
  • Content: Videos may feature action footage, a photo slideshow, or a combination of both. All content must be family friendly. Background music with lewd, violent, or profane lyrics is prohibited.

• Submission Portal: Enter your submission via the official Go Texan Day page on the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo website: https://www.rodeohouston.com/GoTexanDay

5. Hosting Your Event

While hosting an event is not mandatory, organizations are encouraged to celebrate Go Texan Day to enrich their entry. Consider these guidelines:

• Event Timing: Host your event in accordance with the current contest guidelines. For the latest details, please refer to the official contest webpage.
• Theme and Creativity: Create a unique, creative event that celebrates Western heritage. Encourage participants to wear traditional Western attire (e.g., jeans, cowboy boots, and hats) and decorate your venue with a Western theme.
• Engagement: Enhance participation with fun contests such as a best-dressed competition.
• Documentation: Capture high-quality photos and videos showcasing the highlights of your event.
• Hospitality: Consider enhancing the experience with catering (e.g., BBQ, cook-offs) and live music (DJ or band).

6. Voting and Judging

• Entry Limit: One video entry per organization, department, or location. Multiple entries from the same group will result in disqualification.
• Public Voting Details: Public online voting takes place via the contest website. For the latest information on voting schedules and instructions, please visit the Go Texan Day contest page.
• Voting Frequency: Each Facebook account may vote for the same entry only once per day.
• Selection Criteria:

• • People’s Choice: Winners and runners-up in the People’s Choice divisions are determined based on the total number of public votes.
  • Spirit Award: The Spirit Award winner and runner-up are chosen by the Houston General Go Texan Committee based on creativity, overall impact, and adherence to the Western heritage theme.

7. Awards and Prizes

• Awards Ceremony: Winners will be recognized at an awards ceremony held during the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. Details regarding the ceremony will be announced on the official Go Texan Day contest webpage.
• First Place Awards:

• • Trophy presented by the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and the Houston General Go Texan Committee.
  • Two field-level tickets for the RODEOHOUSTON performance/concert.
  • Two VIP passes for a ride in either a wagon or firetruck during the Grand Entry.
    Note: Riders must be 5 years or older, sign a Release of Liability and Indemnity Agreement, and comply with Grand Entry procedures. Vehicle type is subject to availability.

• Second Place Awards:

• • Trophy presented by the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and the Houston General Go Texan Committee.

8. Intellectual Property & Media Release

By submitting an entry, you grant HLSR the right to:

• Use & Reproduce: Display, reproduce, distribute, and promote your video entry—whether in whole, in part, or as a composite—on websites, social media platforms, promotional materials, or other media channels. All entries become the exclusive property of HLSR in perpetuity.
• Waiver of Approval: You waive any right to inspect or approve the final edited version or any promotional use of your submission.
• Content Guidelines: Entries that infringe on copyright, licensing, or trademark laws will be disqualified. HLSR reserves the right to disqualify any entry deemed inappropriate for a family audience or in poor taste.

9. General Terms and Conditions

• Participation in the contest constitutes your acceptance of these Official Rules.
• HLSR reserves the right to modify, postpone, or cancel the contest in light of unforeseen circumstances.
• All decisions made by the contest organizers and judges are final.
• Attempts to circumvent these rules may result in disqualification.

Este concurso gratuito está patrocinado por el Comité General Go Texan de Houston en conjunto con el Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo (HLSR). 3. Elegibilidad y Categorías

• Quiénes Pueden Participar: Este concurso está abierto a organizaciones que deseen mostrar su evento del Día Go Texan. Se permite una única entrada por organización, departamento o ubicación.
• Divisiones de Votación Popular: Al enviar su entrada, debe elegir la división que mejor represente a su organización:

• • Escuelas (Preescolar, K-12 y Educación Superior)
  • Pequeña Empresa (menos de 50 empleados)
  • Gran Empresa (más de 50 empleados)
  • Gobierno y Organizaciones sin fines de lucro

• Categoría Premio al Espíritu: Además de las divisiones de votación popular, se otorgará el Premio al Espíritu. Tanto el ganador como el finalista en esta categoría serán seleccionados únicamente por el Comité General Go Texan de Houston, basándose en la creatividad, el impacto y el grado en que se abrace la herencia occidental.

4. Cómo Participar

• Requisitos para el Envío de Video:

  • Contenido: El video puede incluir imágenes en acción, presentación de fotos o una combinación de ambas. Todo el contenido debe ser apropiado para todas las edades. No se permite música de fondo con letras lascivas, violentas o que contengan blasfemias. 
  • Formulario de Inscripción: Complete todos los campos, incluyendo el nombre del miembro del comité del Rodeo que asistió o refirió a su organización (esto podría otorgar puntos adicionales).

5. Organización del Evento

Aunque no es obligatorio organizar un evento, se recomienda a las organizaciones que celebren el Día Go Texan para enriquecer su entrada. Considere lo siguiente:

• Horario del Evento: Organice su evento en concordancia con las directrices actuales del concurso, disponibles en la página oficial del Día Go Texan.
• Tema y Creatividad: Propicie un evento único y creativo que abrace la herencia occidental. Incentive el uso de vestimenta tradicional (por ejemplo, jeans, botas vaqueras y sombreros) y decore el lugar con un tema occidental.
• Participación: Considere realizar concursos, como el de “mejor disfraz”, para aumentar la participación.
• Documentación: Capture fotos y videos de alta calidad que resalten los mejores momentos de su evento.
• Hospitalidad: Mejore la experiencia con catering (por ejemplo, barbacoa, competencias de cocina) y música en vivo (DJ o banda).

6. Votación y Selección

• Límite de Entradas: Cada organización, departamento o ubicación puede enviar una única entrada. Enviar más de una entrada resultará en descalificación.
• Detalles de la Votación Pública: La votación pública se realiza en línea a través de la página oficial del concurso. Para obtener información actualizada sobre el calendario de votación e instrucciones, consulte la página oficial del concurso del Día Go Texan.
• Frecuencia de Votación: Cada cuenta de Facebook podrá votar por la misma entrada solo una vez por día.
• Criterios de Selección:

• • Votación Popular: Los ganadores y finalistas de las divisiones se determinarán por el total de votos recibidos.
  • Premio al Espíritu: El ganador y el finalista del Premio al Espíritu serán seleccionados por el Comité General Go Texan de Houston, basándose en la creatividad, el impacto y la fidelidad a la herencia occidental.

7. Premios y Reconocimientos

• Ceremonia de Premiación: Los ganadores serán reconocidos durante una ceremonia de premiación en el marco del Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. Para conocer los detalles de la ceremonia, consulte la página oficial del concurso del Día Go Texan.
• Primer Lugar:

• • Trofeo presentado por el Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo y el Comité General Go Texan de Houston. 
  • 2 entradas a nivel de campo para el espectáculo o concierto de RODEOHOUSTON. 
  • 2 pases VIP para montar en un vagón o camión de bomberos durante la Gran Entrada.
    Nota: Los participantes deben tener al menos 5 años, firmar un Acuerdo de Liberación de Responsabilidad e Indemnidad, y cumplir con los procedimientos de la Gran Entrada. El tipo de vehículo está sujeto a disponibilidad.

• Segundo Lugar:

• • Trofeo presentado por el Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo y el Comité General Go Texan de Houston.

8. Derechos de Propiedad Intelectual y Autorización de Medios

Al enviar su entrada, usted otorga a HLSR los siguientes derechos:

• Uso y Reproducción: Permiso para exhibir, reproducir, distribuir y promocionar su video (ya sea en su totalidad, en parte o en conjunto) a través de sitios web, redes sociales, materiales promocionales u otros medios. Todas las entradas se convierten en propiedad exclusiva de HLSR de forma perpetua.
• Renuncia de Aprobación: Usted renuncia al derecho de inspeccionar o aprobar la versión final editada o cualquier uso promocional de su entrada.
• Directrices de Contenido: Las entradas que infrinjan derechos de autor, licencias o reproduzcan de manera no autorizada marcas registradas serán descalificadas. HLSR se reserva el derecho de descalificar cualquier entrada que se considere inapropiada para un público familiar o de mal gusto.

9. Términos y Condiciones Generales

• La participación en el concurso implica la aceptación de estas Reglas Oficiales.
• HLSR se reserva el derecho de modificar, posponer o cancelar el concurso en caso de circunstancias imprevistas.
• Todas las decisiones de los organizadores y jueces del concurso son definitivas.
• Cualquier intento de burlar estas reglas puede resultar en la descalificación.
